From project dimensions to resin and hardener

Estimate a rectangular or circular mould’s fill volume, or a flat coating’s volume, then carry that amount straight into your product’s mixing recipe.

Enter the exact product’s ratio and appropriate pour or coating thickness. Geometry estimates quantity; it does not establish safe batch size or pour depth. Weight recipes require exact component densities because dimensions give a volume.

Worked example

A 10 × 10 cm rectangular mould filled 1 cm deep needs 100 mL of mixed resin before allowance. At a product-specified 2:1 volume ratio, that is approximately 66.667 mL resin and 33.333 mL hardener.

A coating estimate is not a mould estimate

For coatings, use the intended film thickness. The geometric estimate excludes absorption, edges, seal coats and material left in containers; choose an allowance explicitly. Moulds use internal cavity dimensions, and objects inside a mould displace resin.

The estimated project quantity is not permission to mix or pour it all at once. Use the exact resin system’s maximum batch size, pour depth, timing and temperature guidance. No generic density or universal epoxy limit is assumed.
